Wallpaper Murals for Dressing Rooms

A dressing room is one of the more personal spaces in a home, and the walls have a real effect on how the room feels to spend time in. Whether you're working with a compact walk-in closet or a dedicated getting-ready room, wallpaper can give the space its own character without requiring much else to change. Soft botanical prints, delicate florals, tonal geometrics and abstract designs in quieter palettes all tend to work well here, offering a backdrop that feels considered without competing with the clothing and accessories on display.

Setting the Right Atmosphere for Getting Ready

The mood of a dressing room often comes down to colour and pattern. For a light, airy feel, wallpapers in warm neutrals, soft whites or muted pastels keep the space open and easy to be in. Deeper tones, on the other hand, can give a dressing room a more boutique-like quality, particularly when paired with brass fixtures, velvet seating or dark wood cabinetry. This kind of richness works especially well in rooms that already lean towards a more considered, curated look.

Wallpapers with subtle texture or tonal detail often read particularly well under warm vanity lighting, which draws out depth in the design in a way that flat overhead lighting tends not to. If your dressing room has a vanity mirror with warm bulbs or recessed lighting, it's worth thinking about how the wallpaper will look under that specific light rather than in a showroom or on a screen.

Using a Feature Wall Behind a Mirror or Clothing Rack

A single feature wall can be enough in a dressing room. Placing a wall mural or a patterned wallpaper behind a full-length mirror or a clothing rack gives the room a natural focal point without filling every surface. A large-scale floral mural or an abstract design in soft tones can anchor the space while keeping the overall look balanced. For smaller dressing rooms, lighter mural wallpapers with more open compositions can help the room feel less enclosed.

If the room connects to a bedroom or bathroom, it's worth considering how the wallpaper reads from those adjacent spaces. A design that feels intimate and finished on its own can also work as a visual bridge between rooms when the colours are kept in a similar family.

Matching the Style to Your Wardrobe and Storage

The wallpaper in a dressing room shares space with clothing, mirrors, lighting and furniture in a way that few other rooms do. Neutral and tonal wallpapers tend to sit back and let the rest of the room lead, which suits spaces with colourful wardrobes or statement storage. More graphic or detailed designs can work well in rooms where the storage is simpler or more uniform, giving the walls something to say when the rest of the room keeps quiet. A consistent material palette, such as natural wood, rattan or painted cabinetry, can help any wallpaper choice feel more cohesive across the whole space.
