Wallpapers and Wall Murals for Hostels

Hostels occupy a unique position in the hospitality world. They need to work hard across very different spaces, from buzzing common rooms to quieter sleeping quarters, and the wallpapers chosen for each area can do a lot to shape how the overall space feels to guests.

Setting the tone in shared spaces

Common areas, lounges, and reception spaces are where a hostel's character is most on show. Bold wall murals with graphic patterns, urban-inspired aesthetics, or large-scale nature scenes can give these rooms a strong visual identity without major structural work. These kinds of designs tend to sit well alongside industrial materials like exposed metal and reclaimed wood, or with the modular, mix-and-match furniture setups common in hostel interiors. A mural wallpaper on a focal wall can anchor the room and give it a visual point of reference, which suits the social, communal atmosphere these spaces are built around.

A lighter approach for sleeping areas

Dorm rooms and private bedrooms call for a different kind of wallpaper. Subtle geometric patterns, soft botanical motifs, or textured-look designs can make a sleeping space feel more considered without adding visual noise. These tend to pair well with simple bedding, neutral tones, and minimal furniture, helping the room read as restful rather than generic. The goal here is less about making a statement and more about giving guests a room that feels like it was thought about.

Connecting the spaces in between

Hallways, stairwells, and transition areas are often overlooked in hostel design, but they carry guests through the entire building. A repeating pattern or a continuous mural wallpaper along a corridor can tie different areas together visually and give the space a more cohesive feel. These passages are also a good place to reference the hostel's broader visual identity, whether that leans towards an artistic, urban, or more natural direction.

Adapting to varied layouts

Hostel layouts rarely follow a template. Common rooms can be cavernous; corridors can be narrow; feature walls come in all sorts of proportions. Wallism's wallpapers and wall murals are made to measure, so they can be sized according to the actual dimensions of each wall. This makes it easier to apply a consistent design approach across a space without having to compromise on how the design fits the room.
