Wallpapers & Wall Murals for Common Areas

The common areas of a hotel or resort carry a lot of weight. Lobbies, lounges, corridors, and reception spaces are where guests form their first impressions, and the right wallpapers can set a tone that carries through the entire stay. These shared spaces benefit from designs that feel considered and confident without competing with the activity happening within them.

Setting the right tone in lobbies and reception areas

Large-scale wall murals tend to work well in lobbies and reception halls, where there is enough wall space to let a design breathe. A single bold mural behind a reception desk can anchor the space and give it a clear sense of character, signaling the style and feel of the property before a guest has even checked in. Abstract compositions, soft landscapes, and botanical prints are all directions that can give a grand entrance a warmer, more welcoming quality without feeling overly decorative.

Corridors, lounges, and the spaces in between

Transitional spaces like corridors often get overlooked, but they connect a guest's entire experience of a property. Wallpapers with repeating patterns or textural designs can add depth and visual continuity here without feeling too bold or demanding. In lounges and social areas, mural wallpapers with a softer, more residential quality can encourage guests to slow down and settle in. These spaces tend to benefit from designs that feel warm rather than formal.

Colour and material pairings for hospitality interiors

Colour choices matter significantly in communal areas, since the wallpaper needs to hold up across different lighting conditions throughout the day and complement a range of furniture finishes. Warm neutrals, earthy tones, and muted palettes tend to read well alongside polished stone, wood panelling, and upholstered seating typical of hospitality interiors. A richer or more saturated mural wallpaper can work as a focal point in a lounge corner or bar area, but for spaces that need to feel cohesive across a large footprint, a more restrained palette often holds together more consistently.

Sizing and fitting for varied wall formats

Common areas come in a wide range of proportions, from double-height lobby walls to narrow corridor sections. Since each wall presents different dimensions, it is worth considering how a chosen design will read at scale, whether it is a continuous scene that benefits from full-wall coverage or a repeating pattern that can be cropped and adapted to fit. Wallism's wallpapers are made to measure, so each design is sized according to the specific wall rather than working around standard dimensions.
