Wallpaper Murals for Bars

Bars have a lot riding on atmosphere. The interior needs to pull guests in from the moment they arrive and give them a reason to stay, and wallpapers play a significant role in shaping that experience. Whether the space leans toward a dimly lit cocktail lounge, a lively neighborhood pub, or a sleek urban bar, the walls are often doing more visual work than any other surface in the room.

Setting the Mood: Tone and Colour Direction

The atmosphere a bar is trying to create should guide the wallpaper choice more than any other factor. For intimate or upscale settings, deep jewel tones and rich, dark patterns can work well alongside warm lighting, leather seating, and brass or copper fixtures. This kind of layered interior tends to feel considered and immersive, which suits venues where guests are settling in for the evening.

In louder, more eclectic spaces, bold geometric wallpapers or large-scale abstract designs can hold their own against exposed brick, industrial lighting, and neon signage. The key is choosing a design that complements the existing materials rather than competing with them. A wall mural behind the back bar, for instance, can anchor the whole space and give it a visual identity that stays with guests long after they leave.

Zoning a Bar with Wallpaper

Bars are rarely single-purpose rooms, and wallpaper can be a useful way to give different areas their own character. An entryway wall mural creates a strong first impression and signals the tone of the venue before guests have even reached the bar. A feature wall in a booth or seating alcove can make that area feel more private and intentional, encouraging guests to linger.

Even using a consistent patterned or textured wallpaper across one section of the room can visually separate it from a more open-plan area. This kind of zoning works particularly well in larger bars where the space needs to feel varied without becoming incoherent.

Matching Wallpaper to the Bar's Visual Identity

A bar's wallpaper choice often reflects its broader brand. A speakeasy-inspired venue might suit dark floral or moody botanical wall murals, while a bright, contemporary cocktail bar could lean toward graphic prints or bold colour-blocked designs. Craft beer pubs with warm wood interiors often pair well with earthy tones, worn textures, or heritage-style patterns.

It is also worth considering how the wallpaper reads under the lighting conditions the space actually operates in. Bars are frequently lit with warm, low-level light in the evening, which shifts how colours appear on the walls. Richer, deeper tones tend to hold well in these conditions, while very pale or delicate designs may not read as intended once the ambient light drops.

Wallism's wallpapers and wall murals are made to measure, so they can be produced according to the specific dimensions of your wall rather than requiring you to adapt around a standard size.
