Wallpaper - Going it Alone III

Our Going it Alone III wallpaper by Nathan Larson captures an expansive, sun-bleached desert landscape dominated by a solitary, rugged mountain rising from open plains. What we particularly like about this design is its atmospheric, photographic stillness, where soft muted tones of dusty beige, pale sand, and cool stony taupe meet a subtle, hazy sky. The low foreground brushwork and horizontal terrain draw the eye across the full width of the wall, giving rooms a grounded sense of space and horizon. Made to measure for your specific wall dimensions, this PVC-free design features a subtle structure in the wallpaper paper and is straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because of its broad horizontal composition and distant horizon, we see this wall mural working particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall in a living room, bedroom, or quiet home study. Placing the wallpaper behind a low sofa or a bed frame allows the mountain peak and open sky to remain fully visible, giving the entire room an airy, expansive focal point. In spaces with soft natural daylight, the gentle tonal shifts across the mountain ridges and desert floor show their nuanced contrast without overwhelming surrounding decor.

Styling it

We would keep the surrounding interior grounded and understated to mirror the calm, open character of the desert landscape.

• Pair the wallpaper with low-profile furniture in natural materials like weathered oak, ash, or light terracotta ceramics to complement the earthy foreground tones.
• Choose textural upholstery and curtains in unbleached linen or textured wool in warm neutral shades to build a tactile, relaxed atmosphere.
• Introduce dark or blackened metal details in lighting fixtures or slim side tables to pick up on the darker shadowed crevices of the mountain ridges.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres around sandy beige, dry scrub brown, stony taupe, and pale sky grey. For adjacent walls and trim, we recommend subtle off-whites, warm biscuit tones, or light greige to maintain a seamless, airy transition. If you prefer deeper contrast in woodwork or accent furniture, muted charcoal, dusty slate, or warm umber echo the darker rock shadows within the mountain face beautifully.
