Wallpaper - Neutral Mist I

In Neutral Mist I by June Erica Vess, soft washes of warm taupe, clay, muted charcoal, and earthy umber create an atmospheric, painterly landscape that feels both grounded and ethereal. We particularly like the delicate watercolor-like texture, where translucent layers bleed into one another to suggest misty trees, gentle hills, and soft ambient haze. The composition anchors deeper tonal contrasts near the base before diffusing upward into warm beige and pale plaster tones. As with all our wall murals, this design is made to measure to your exact wall dimensions, printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that brings out every painterly detail.

In the room

Because the composition naturally moves from deeper, heavier tones at the bottom to airy, diffused washes at the top, we see this working exceptionally well as an accent wall in a living room, dining space, or bedroom. Placing it behind a low-profile sofa, a dining credenza, or a bed frame allows the darker lower section to frame your furniture while the softer upper gradient creates an open, expansive feel higher on the wall. In rooms with generous natural daylight, the subtle tonal gradations between sepia, warm gray, and soft sand reveal delicate visual depth.

Styling it

To complement the organic, fluid character of this design, we recommend keeping surrounding furniture shapes relatively clean and understated. Low-slung silhouettes with simple profiles allow the expressive watercolor washes to remain the focal point of the space.

Natural, matte textures pair beautifully with the painterly aesthetic. Mid-toned wood finishes, such as walnut or warm oak, echo the deeper umber and sepia notes in the pattern, while brushed stone, matte ceramics, or unglazed terracotta bring a tactile, grounded balance to the room without introducing competing patterns.

Colour combinations

The palette within this wallpaper is built on nuanced earthy neutrals, including warm taupe, charcoal gray, muted sepia, soft sand, and hints of pale plaster. When choosing paint shades and accents for surrounding walls and woodwork, warm off-whites, creamy bone, or subtle oatmeal create a calm, cohesive transition. For a moodier, more enveloping space, you could pull out the deeper charcoal or rich umber tones for adjacent accent trim, doors, or larger upholstery pieces.
