Wallpaper - Springtime Field Study

Our Springtime Field Study wallpaper, created by Kate Jarvik Birch, captures a quiet moment in nature with a hand-painted illustrative character. A brown rabbit sits nestled among tall grasses and delicate yellow wildflowers in the foreground, looking out across an open meadow toward distant rolling hills under an expressive sky. The composition combines deep grassy greens and warm earthy browns with soft sky blues and gentle yellow accents, giving the mural a painterly, storybook charm. Made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this design brings warmth and narrative character to any feature wall.

In the room

We love how this wallpaper creates an inviting focal point without feeling overwhelming. The rich detail is concentrated in the lower half of the design, with the tall blades of grass and wildflowers rising up around the rabbit, while the upper portion opens into an expansive horizon and cloudy sky. This vertical balance makes our design especially well suited to a child's bedroom, nursery, playroom, or a cozy reading nook where the artwork can be appreciated at eye level.

Because the foreground has a painterly depth, we recommend placing this mural on a wall with lower furniture, such as a toddler bed, a low bench, or a reading chair, so the rabbit and floral details remain fully in view. In a room with good natural daylight, the subtle brushstroke details and soft tonal transitions in the sky and meadow come to life beautifully.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we suggest leaning into natural materials and soft, uncomplicated furniture shapes that complement its countryside aesthetic. Light wood tones, like untreated pine, birch, or pale ash, pair naturally with the grassy meadow tones and keep the room feeling light and fresh.

For textiles, simple woven blankets, soft cottons, and neutral window dressings help ground the space. You can echo the warm ochre and yellow tones from the wildflowers through a decorative cushion or a lampshade, while keeping large furniture pieces in quiet off-white or muted earthy shades so the mural remains the visual center of the room.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on rich forest and moss greens, earthy browns, and warm golden yellow tones in the field, balanced by soft slate blue, pale grey, and cream in the sky.

To complement these tones on adjacent walls or trim, we recommend soft warm whites, gentle oatmeals, or a muted olive green. If you prefer a cooler accent to mirror the sky, a soft grey-blue works wonderfully on painted woodwork or shelving.
