Wallpaper - Emery

Our Emery wallpaper, created by Pamela Munger, brings together expressive abstract brushwork and an atmospheric landscape-inspired composition. A textured wash of pale grey, soft blue-grey, and off-white dominates the upper portion of the design, balanced below by grounded bands of terracotta, charcoal, dusty rose, and muted blush. What we particularly like is the layered, painterly character of the motif, giving the impression of exposed paint strokes and palette knife textures on canvas. Printed made to measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure, this design brings an artful, gallery-like presence to any interior wall.

In the room

Because of its broad horizontal horizon line and sweeping upper field, we see this mural wallpaper working especially well as a focal point across a wider, uninterrupted wall. In a living room behind a low-backed sofa or in a bedroom behind a headboard, the lower warm tones naturally anchor the furniture while the lighter upper area opens up the vertical space.

The soft balance between warm terracotta and cool grey tones also makes it a compelling choice for a dining room or a quiet home office. In spaces with good daylight, the subtle tonal variations and painterly marks across the lighter sections become particularly noticeable, while warmer evening lamplight enhances the earthy richness of the rust and blush base.

Styling it

When styling around our Emery design, we like to keep the surrounding furniture relatively understated so the painterly landscape carries the visual focus. Low-profile furniture with clean, modern lines lets the horizontal composition speak for itself without visual clutter.

Warm wood furniture, such as light oak or walnut, pairs naturally with the terracotta and blush tones in the lower section of the wallpaper. For upholstery and soft furnishings, matte woven textiles in off-white, oatmeal, or muted rose create a cohesive, layered feel without competing with the abstract artwork.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built around a balance of dusty blush, terracotta, charcoal, cool grey, and chalky white. When considering surrounding paint colours and finishes, you can take inspiration from either side of this palette.

For adjacent walls and woodwork, a soft off-white or a very pale warm grey keeps the room light and highlights the artwork's gentle sky tones. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel, pulling out the terracotta or a deep slate grey for accent pieces, painted doors, or cabinetry creates an intentional and grounded contrast.
