Wallpaper - Desert Wandering

Our Desert Wandering wallpaper brings an open landscape into the home with the expressive character of painted brushwork. Created by Pamela Munger, the composition layers sweeping desert terrain against gentle mountain ridges under a broad sky. Muted sand tones, dusty pinks, and warm earthy neutrals across the ground are grounded by energetic strokes of olive and moss green in the foreground scrub, alongside soft purple and blue undertones in the distant hills. Printed made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this design brings a calm, artistic focal point to wide wall spaces.

In the room

Because Desert Wandering is composed as a wide landscape mural, we see it working particularly well on an uninterrupted wall where the full horizon has room to stretch out. In a living room behind a low sofa or along the main wall of a dining room, the horizontal bands of color create a sense of openness and visual depth without overwhelming the space.

In a bedroom, placed behind the headboard, the softer sky tones sit quietly higher up while the warmer ground colors anchor the lower portion of the wall. The lower visual contrast across the sky and distant ridges also makes the design easy to live with in home offices or sitting rooms where you want a painted wall mural that feels composed and serene rather than loud or busy.

Styling it

We would keep the surrounding furniture relatively grounded to complement the painted landscape style. Low-profile seating and clean architectural lines let the panoramic view remain the primary focus of the room. Warm wood furniture, such as natural oak or warm walnut, ties naturally into the earthy undertones of the desert ground.

For upholstery and accessories, we suggest leaning into matte, unpretentious textures. Pieces upholstered in textured woven fabrics or smooth leather pair comfortably with the expressive brushstrokes in the motif. To keep the focus on the horizon, avoid placing tall shelving units or high storage against the main mural wall.

Colour combinations

The palette within our Desert Wandering wallpaper centers on sandy beige, dusty blush pink, muted terracotta, and dry grass tones, counterbalanced by deep olive green, slate blue, and soft lilac in the distant mountain shadows.

On adjacent walls and trim, warm off-white, light linen, or soft sand create a natural, quiet transition that allows the mural wallpaper to flow into the rest of the room. If you prefer to draw out the deeper accents from the design, deep olive or muted loden green on painted cabinetry or woodwork creates a handsome, grounded contrast against the lighter sky areas.
