Wallpaper - Best of Friends

Our Best of Friends wallpaper brings a tender, intimate moment into focus with a black-and-white photographic portrait of two mules leaning gently together against a rustic stone wall. The composition captures the quiet connection between the animals, highlighted by the texture of their braided halters and the rough, weathered blocks behind them. With its balanced tonal scale of deep charcoals, soft greys, and warm off-whites, this design works as a striking focal mural without overwhelming a space. Like all of our wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that is straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because of the strong central focus and life-scale presence of the two figures, we see this wall mural working best on a wide, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full composition can be appreciated. In an entryway, living room, or study, placing the mural behind low-profile furniture ensures the expressive profiles of the animals remain the central anchor of the room. The monochrome palette allows it to integrate comfortably into both minimalist settings and more traditional, countryside-inspired spaces without competing with adjacent architecture.

Styling it

We recommend pairing this design with tactile, unpretentious interior elements that echo its rustic simplicity. Simple wooden furniture in natural oak or darker stained finishes complements the heritage feel of the stone background, while matte black iron or bronze fixtures pick up on the deep charcoal tones in the mules' coats. Keeping surrounding textiles quiet, such as unbleached cotton or coarse-woven upholstery, lets the photographic detail on the wall take center stage without visual clutter.

Colour combinations

The palette within our mural wallpapers centers on classic grayscale, spanning soft chalky whites, mid-tone stone greys, and rich, velvety blacks. When styling the surrounding space, warm neutral wall colors like off-white, oat, or subtle limestone greys create a seamless transition from the stone backdrop. If you prefer deeper contrast, adjacent walls painted in muted charcoal, deep olive, or slate balance the photographic depth while maintaining a grounded, cohesive interior.
