Wallpaper - Disco Rain

Created by Kate Jarvik Birch, our Disco Rain wallpaper captures the atmospheric view of city traffic at night through a rain-streaked window. Luminous circles of glowing yellow, amber, and red tail lights diffuse against deep teal, indigo, and navy tones, while painted rivulets of water trace downward across the surface. What we particularly appreciate in this design is how the fluid paintwork and blurred bokeh elements create a rich sense of nocturnal depth. Like all our wallpapers, this mural is made to measure to your exact wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure.

In the room

Because of its deep nocturnal background and vibrant points of light, we see this design working exceptionally well in spaces where you want an expressive, moody atmosphere. In a living room, it makes a compelling feature wall behind a low sofa, where the full sweep of streaming rain and glowing light circles can stay open to view. It also brings an intimate, enveloping character to a dining room or an evening lounge, where softer ambient lighting allows the saturated dark blues and warm glowing dots to carry the visual focus of the space.

For a bedroom, placing this wall mural behind the headboard creates a distinct focal point without overwhelming the rest of the room. In a creative home office or study, the urban night-view feel adds visual depth and a modern artistic backdrop. Because the pattern relies on larger, painterly compositions rather than a small repeating motif, we would give it a relatively open wall where the dripping lines and illuminated shapes have room to unfold naturally.

Styling it

When styling around our Disco Rain mural wallpapers, we suggest letting the artwork lead the visual weight of the room while keeping surrounding elements clean and tactile.

• Pair the deep blue and turquoise background with low-profile furniture in dark wood or painted charcoal finishes to maintain the nocturnal mood.
• Introduce accent fabrics in warm rust, ochre, or burnt orange to echo the glowing tail lights and add warmth to the seating area.
• Use warm-toned table lamps or subtle wall sconces rather than bright overhead light, allowing the illuminated circles in the design to glow naturally in evening light.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper centres on a nocturnal mix of deep navy, ocean teal, and cool indigo, punctuated by vibrant bursts of cadmium red, warm orange, amber, and soft turquoise. When planning the rest of the room, you can draw directly from these warm accent tones to create a balanced dialogue across the space. Surrounding painted walls in deep slate, midnight blue, or a subdued greyed teal will create a seamless, cocooning look. If you prefer higher contrast, a neutral warm off-white or soft pebble grey on adjacent walls allows the dark, painterly city scene to stand out distinctly.
