Wallpaper - Whispers in Clay I

Created by Nikita Jariwala, our Whispers in Clay I wallpaper presents an expressive still life composition centered on a rounded ceramic pitcher. Broad white painted stripes wrap around a soft mint-turquoise jug, holding delicate leafy branches that fan outward across a warm dusty rose background. The lower portion introduces an earthy terracotta plane with visible brushstroke texture, creating an inviting balance between grounded earth tones and fresh pastel accents. Like all our wallpapers, this mural wallpaper is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions, printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We love how the warm terracotta base and gentle mint jug create a natural focal point without feeling overly busy. In a dining room or kitchen dining nook, the design sits comfortably along a feature wall, anchoring a dining table or sideboard with its relaxed still life subject. The vertical spread of the branches also works well in an entryway or a bedroom, where the soft pink background tone adds gentle warmth across the space. Because the composition has distinct visual weight in the lower half and airy foliage above, placing lower furniture in front of it allows the vase and branches to remain clear and visible.

Styling it

The painted quality and earthy palette invite a simple, textured approach to surrounding furnishings. We would pair this wallpaper with warm wood furniture such as oak or teak, which complements the terracotta tone naturally. To keep the focus on the artwork's handcrafted feel, surrounding textiles work well in neutral off-white or washed linen finishes rather than competing patterns. A few simple ceramic pieces on a nearby shelf or credenza can echo the artisanal mood of the pitcher motif nicely.

Colour combinations

The design is built on a dialogue between warm and cool tones, featuring rich terracotta, muted blush pink, soft mint turquoise, creamy white stripes, and deep olive brown in the foliage. When choosing paint for adjacent walls or trim, a warm off-white or muted sand tone creates a seamless and gentle transition. If you prefer deeper contrast, picking up the terracotta tone on cabinetry, low paneling, or decorative accessories ties the room together with confident warmth.
