Wallpaper - Pet Stroll I

Our Pet Stroll I wallpaper by Michael Mullan brings an illustrative, storybook charm to the wall with its whimsical portrait of a figure walking a dachshund in the rain. Holding a wide black umbrella, the character wears a textured red plaid coat and matching beret, accompanied by a little blue-grey dog in a striped sweater. Set against an off-white, lightly textured backdrop, the printmaking-inspired character art balances bold graphic silhouettes with subtle distressed details. Like all our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure and completely PVC-free.

In the room

Because of its clear vertical composition and generous open background, we find this mural wallpaper works especially well on a feature wall where the central illustration has space to breathe. In an entryway or hallway, it creates an immediate sense of personality and a playful welcome. We also love seeing this design in a nursery, children's bedroom, or a relaxed home office, where the characterful motif adds warmth without overwhelming the room.

Placing the design on a wall with minimal tall furniture allows the full figure, umbrella, and little dog to stay completely in view. If you are positioning furniture along the wall, lower pieces such as a bench, low sideboard, or desk keep the artwork open and legible.

Styling it

To let the charming character art take center stage, we suggest styling the surrounding space with simple, clean-lined furnishings and uncluttered surfaces. Painted furniture in soft cream, charcoal, or muted black anchors the graphic contrast of the umbrella and coat without competing for attention.

Light or mid-toned wooden elements bring a natural warmth that complements the printmaker aesthetic of the artwork. Keeping surrounding fabrics relatively quiet in tone and pattern ensures the playful motif remains the primary focal point of the room.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built around a crisp palette of warm crimson red, deep charcoal black, light sky blue, and crisp white against a calm, pale off-white background.

When choosing colors for adjoining walls, woodwork, or decor, soft warm whites and muted creams provide a gentle, natural transition. If you want to draw out the deeper accents of the motif, dark charcoal or soft black on painted doors and trim can frame the wallpaper beautifully. Alternatively, subtle accents in muted red or dusty blue echo the coat and dog, tying the whole interior together.
