Wallpaper - Poppies on Black

Our Poppies on Black wallpaper, created in collaboration with Pamela Munger, presents an expressive still life of blooming poppies gathered in a soft blue ceramic-style vase. Set against a deep black background, the bright blooms in shades of vibrant yellow, warm orange, terracotta red, and pale blush pink emerge with vivid contrast and a painterly, hand-painted look. The loose brushstrokes and graceful, arching stems create an open and artistic floral composition. Made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions, our PVC-free wallpapers feature a subtle physical structure in the paper that adds depth to the design.

In the room

We love seeing our floral mural wallpapers bring a warm, gallery-like presence to a dining room, living room, or entryway. Because the composition features a distinct central arrangement rising from a tabletop, this design works especially well on a primary feature wall where the full height and vertical stems can be appreciated without tall furniture obscuring the vase. In a dining area, placing the motif behind a sideboard or dining table creates an inviting focal point that grounds the entire space.

Styling it

When styling around such a bold still-life motif, we suggest balancing the expressive artwork with understated furniture shapes and clean lines. Mid-century modern or contemporary wooden furniture in warm oak or walnut sits naturally alongside the terracotta and golden yellow tones in the bouquet. Keeping surrounding accents relatively calm lets the vibrant floral arrangement stand out as the main visual anchor of the room. A simple matte ceramic lamp or subtle brass details can quietly pick up on the warm highlights within the petals.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on a striking palette of deep black, soft powder blue, sunny yellow, warm orange, rich terracotta, and delicate pale pink. To complement these shades, we recommend pairing adjacent walls with soft warm off-whites or pale greige to keep the room light and balanced. If you prefer a more enveloping look, pulling the vase's muted blue or a deep slate tone onto neighboring walls or woodwork creates a seamless, cohesive interior.
