Wallpaper - Flutter

Created by Deborah Revell, our Flutter wallpaper presents a macro photographic study of an open book, focusing on the graceful curve of fanned pages and the textured cloth binding. What we particularly appreciate in this design is how the clean, sweeping arch of the paper pages contrasts with the subtle woven detail along the spine and the soft, diffused cool background. Warm cream, golden ochre, and warm amber tones in the foreground meet a gentle, misted blue-grey backdrop to create a quiet, sculptural composition. Printed as a made-to-measure, PVC-free wall mural with a subtle paper structure, it brings a contemplative and graphic feel to a feature wall.

In the room

Because of the bold, architectural arc of the curving pages, we find this wallpaper works best when given a clear wall where its sweeping lines have space to breathe. In a living room, study, or bedroom, it makes a striking statement behind a low-profile sofa, desk, or headboard. The macro scale of the motif naturally draws the eye, so we recommend placing it on an accent wall while keeping surrounding walls relatively simple. The gentle gradient in the upper background also lends a soft sense of vertical depth, which can help a room feel more open and calm.

Styling it

To complement the warm, literary character of this design, we suggest pairing it with clean-lined furniture and warm natural materials. Mid-toned or lighter woods echo the honeyed tones of the aged pages and cloth binding, while simple, uncluttered shelving or minimalist seating keeps the visual focus centered on the wall. For textiles, matte textures like unbleached wool or smooth cotton work nicely alongside the wallpaper without competing with the fine detail of the book's textured spine.

Colour combinations

The palette in Flutter is built on warm ochre, soft amber, and mellow cream, set against a muted blue-grey and soft white background. In the surrounding room, you could pull out the quiet background tones by painting adjoining walls in a soft, misty grey or an off-white with cool undertones. Alternatively, introduce warmth through surrounding furnishings in camel, mustard, or deep cognac leather to tie directly into the golden tones of the binding and page edges.
