Wallpaper - Split the Earth

Our Split the Earth wallpaper by Nathan Larson captures a striking photographic landscape defined by high contrast and dramatic negative space. The composition places an expansive, deep black sky across the upper two thirds of the mural, grounding the view with a textured horizon of grassland below. A solitary pale path cuts straight through the center, drawing the eye toward the distant skyline. This monochromatic wall mural creates a bold, cinematic atmosphere, bringing strong depth to an accent wall. Like all Wallism mural wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure, PVC-free, and printed on paper with a subtle physical structure that is straightforward to hang.

In the room

We see this wallpaper working particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall in a living room, bedroom, or home office where the wide horizon can stretch across the full width of the space. Because the upper portion of the design consists of a vast, velvety dark expanse, it naturally grounds lower furniture while preserving a feeling of vertical openness above.

In a bedroom, positioning the horizon line behind a low bed frame allows the dramatic dark sky to envelop the upper wall. In a study or living area, we recommend placing this design on a wall with generous natural daylight to highlight the delicate photographic textures in the grass and path.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we prefer keeping the surrounding elements clean and visually grounded so the wallpaper remains the primary focal point. Low-profile furniture with minimalist silhouettes works especially well here, preventing any disruption to the central perspective of the road.

We would pair this mural with warm wood tones, such as natural walnut or darkened oak, to introduce subtle organic warmth alongside the cool monochrome palette. Layering in soft, textured textiles like bouclé, wool, or matte linen creates a tactile balance against the smooth visual depth of the dark sky.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper relies entirely on monochrome balance, featuring deep charcoal black, soft mid-tone grays across the grassy landscape, and crisp off-white along the central path.

To complement these tones, we suggest pairing adjacent walls with soft chalky whites, warm off-whites, or subtle charcoal paints. If you want to introduce a touch of color into the surrounding decor, muted earthy shades like warm terracotta, olive, or amber accents will bring inviting contrast without competing with the black-and-white motif.
