Wallpaper - Our Disappearing Environment

Our Disappearing Environment wallpaper by Kathy Ferguson brings together a graphic harlequin diamond grid with expressive collage-style botanical motifs and layered abstract fragments. Across the composition, crisp geometric divisions alternate between off-white panels and deep cobalt, cerulean blue, terracotta red, and peach-toned vignettes. Within each diamond, delicate line-drawn foliage, stencilled botanical branches, and textured layered blocks create a rich collage-like visual rhythm. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure to fit your specific wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure.

In the room

We love how this mural wallpaper balances structured geometric layout with fluid, painterly botanical details. In an open living room or across a dedicated dining room wall, the diamond lattice creates an engaging visual rhythm that draws the eye across the entire wall without overwhelming the room. The contrast between bright off-white areas and saturated blocks of blue and red gives the motif enough visual presence to define a distinct zone, making it a great focal point behind a low credenza, sofa, or dining table.

Because the pattern relies on a repeating diagonal grid filled with varied internal compositions, it works well on wide, uninterrupted walls where the full sequence of shapes and botanical elements can unfold naturally. In a home office or study, placing our wallpaper behind a clean-lined desk brings artful energy and visual interest to the background while keeping the overall room orderly.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we suggest leaning into clean silhouettes and solid tones that let the geometric composition take centre stage. Modern furniture with simple, unadorned profiles balances the intricate collage details inside each diamond.

To create a cohesive atmosphere, consider drawing out the earthy accents of the pattern through warm wood furniture, such as oak or mid-toned walnut. Surrounding upholstery in neutral textured fabrics, like natural wool or soft woven finishes in cream or charcoal, prevents the space from competing with the graphic color blocks.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper features a dynamic palette built on an off-white ground, accented with vivid shades of cobalt blue, turquoise, warm terracotta, coral, and deep slate black line work.

To complement these shades on adjoining walls and woodwork, soft off-white or light chalky plaster tones keep the room open and airy while echoing the lighter diamonds in the pattern. If you want a moodier, more tailored look, painting surrounding trim or an adjacent wall in a muted terracotta or deep marine blue pulls directly from the richer segments of the artwork.
