Wallpaper - River With Angler II Aged

Our River With Angler II Aged wallpaper captures a serene, vintage landscape scene rendered in soft grisaille wash tones. Featuring an angler seated along a rocky riverbank beneath arching, leafy trees, the design combines delicate brushwork with gentle sepia, warm grey, and aged parchment tones. The vertical composition guides the eye from the foreground greenery and flowing water up through the canopy, creating a calm, atmospheric depth. Made-to-measure and PVC-free, this design brings classical landscape art onto the wall with a subtly textured paper finish.

In the room

We love this design on a feature wall where the entire vertical landscape can unfold without interruption. In a living room, dining room, or a quiet study, it brings a sense of depth and timeless character to the space. Because the palette is soft and monochromatic, the motif works beautifully behind a low sofa, a wooden dining table, or an upholstered headboard in a bedroom. The delicate washes and flowing river detail remain legible without overwhelming the room, making it equally suited to open, airy layouts and intimate reading nooks.

Styling it

To complement the classical, hand-painted feel of this mural wallpaper, we suggest pairing it with natural materials and thoughtful textures.

• Ground the space with warm, mid-tone wood furniture, such as oak or walnut, which picks up the earthy sepia undertones of the design.
• Introduce tactile upholstery in soft linens, muted wool, or tumbled cotton to mirror the organic, painterly quality of the riverbank scenery.
• Keep surrounding accessories understated, opting for matte ceramics, unlacquered bronze, or antique brass hardware that respects the heritage mood.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on a quiet, layered palette of warm greys, aged parchment, soft stone, and gentle sepia washes. To build around these tones, we recommend pairing the wallpaper with chalky off-whites, warm taupes, or muted greige on adjacent walls and woodwork. If you want to introduce a touch more depth, a deep olive, muddy charcoal, or rich forest green on trim or built-in cabinetry will create a sophisticated contrast while grounding the landscape.
