Wallpaper - Hunting Dog Portrait

Created by Danhui Nai, our Hunting Dog Portrait wallpaper brings classic sporting art into a large mural format. The design centers on an alert pointer rendered in clean profile against a painterly landscape of deep woodland greens, earthy ochres, and muted slate tones. Broad, expressive brushwork gives the backdrop an atmospheric depth, making the white and warm tan patches of the hound stand out in clear visual focus. As with all Wallism wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your specific wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because of the strong central subject and horizontal posture of the dog, we see this mural working best on a wide, uninterrupted wall where the full composition can be appreciated without heavy visual breaks. It makes a distinctive feature wall in a study, home library, or living room, particularly positioned behind a low-backed sofa or along a main wall where you have room to step back. The painted landscape backdrop also allows this wall mural to anchor an entryway or dining room, bringing a timeless, traditional character to spaces designed for gathering.

Styling it

To complement the heritage feel of the painting, we would pair this wallpaper with warm, grounded interior elements. Deep woods such as antique mahogany, walnut, or rich oak create a natural connection with the earthy tones of the undergrowth in the artwork.

For upholstery and surrounding furniture, tailored pieces in textured woven wool, aged leather, or matte velvet in forest green or tobacco brown sit comfortably alongside the motif. Keeping large case goods low to the floor ensures the central figure of the hound remains the focal point of the space.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper combines crisp white and warm chestnut tan with a rich foundation of moss green, golden ochre, umber, and soft slate grey.

When choosing paint colours for adjacent walls and trim, we like pulling from the softer background tones. A muted olive or sage green creates an enveloping, cohesive atmosphere in a study or dining room. If you prefer a lighter look, a warm off-white or light stone shade reflects the clean coat of the hound and keeps the surrounding space bright while letting the darker tones of the mural wallpaper ground the room.
