Wallpaper - Evening Hour Stroll

Our Evening Hour Stroll wallpaper, created by Kate Jarvik Birch, captures a quiet winter evening along a snow-covered park pathway framed by glowing street lanterns and tall city silhouettes. We particularly like the painted gouache-like texture and the atmospheric interplay between deep twilight blues and the warm golden light spilling from lampposts and distant high-rise windows. As with all our wall murals, this design is made to measure to your exact wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that brings out the painterly brushstrokes.

In the room

Because this mural wallpaper has a strong scenic composition and a deep nocturnal palette, we see it working especially well on a primary feature wall where the perspective can unfold naturally. In a living room, placing it behind a low-backed sofa or along a main wall gives the feeling of looking out into a peaceful winter evening. It also suits a study, bedroom, or home office where the moody indigo and navy tones create an enveloping, quiet atmosphere. Because the darker tones carry weight, the design benefits from generous ambient lighting or a wider wall surface where the vertical city backdrop and trees have space to breathe.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we suggest keeping surrounding furniture relatively simple so the wallpaper remains the visual anchor of the room. Warm wood furniture, such as medium-toned oak or teak, echoes the golden warmth of the street lamps and balances the cooler blue background. Darker painted furniture in matte charcoal or deep navy also integrates naturally into the room. For upholstery and larger textiles, look to warm neutrals, muted mustard, or soft rust accents that pick up the warm glow cast on the snowy path. Brass or darkened metal lighting fixtures complement the classic park lantern motifs in the artwork.

Colour combinations

The dominant palette in our wallpaper centres on deep indigo, midnight blue, slate, and winter sky tones, contrasted by warm amber, buttery yellow, and soft peach highlights on the snow. When choosing paint colours for adjacent walls or trim, off-white with warm undertones keeps the surrounding space balanced without feeling stark. Deep navy or muted slate grey on nearby woodwork creates a dramatic, cohesive look, while warm ochre or terracotta accents in cushions and ceramics draw out the glowing window and lantern tones.
