Wallpaper - Gray and Yellow Blocks I

Created by artist Mike Schick, our Gray and Yellow Blocks I wallpaper brings together an abstract grid composition of painterly blocks, charcoal sketch lines, and layered brushwork. The design balances cool slate grays, off-white, and deep charcoal squares with warm accents of ochre and soft butter yellow. Subtle painted textures and scraped visual layers give the geometric layout an expressive, gallery-like presence on the wall. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure, our mural wallpapers are designed to be straightforward to hang and make an artistic focal point in any interior.

In the room

We especially like how the painterly geometry of this design gives structure to a room without feeling rigid. In a living room or modern dining area, giving this wallpaper an uninterrupted main wall allows the interplay of rectangular shapes and sketch lines to be seen in its entirety. Because the palette combines cool grays and creamy whites with warm yellow accents, it works equally well behind a low-profile sofa or along the wall of a contemporary home office where an artistic background adds visual character.

In spaces with generous daylight, the layered textures and small contrasts between charcoal brush marks and pale cream sections come alive. The design also performs beautifully in more compact areas, such as an entryway or reading corner, where its balanced visual weight creates an inviting, considered focal point.

Styling it

When styling around Gray and Yellow Blocks I, we recommend letting the expressive geometry of the wallpaper lead the room while keeping surrounding furniture clean-lined and understated. Low-slung contemporary pieces in matte black, charcoal, or warm neutral upholstery will anchor the space without competing with the painted blocks.

For materials, warm woods like oak or walnut pair naturally with the golden ochre elements in the motif, softening the cooler gray fields. Black metal frames or slim lighting fixtures echo the delicate charcoal line work in the composition, tying the whole interior together.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres around cool slate grays, charcoal, off-white, and warm yellow accents ranging from butter cream to ochre. To create a cohesive look across adjacent painted walls, we suggest soft warm whites, pale pebble grays, or a muted charcoal for a more dramatic accent trim.

If you want to draw out the warmer tones of the motif, introduce mustard or ochre accents through cushions, throws, or decorative ceramics, balanced against quiet neutral base surfaces.
