Wallpaper - Ancient Pathways II

Designed by Nikita Jariwala, our Ancient Pathways II wallpaper brings together abstract slate-toned forms and warm, painted earth tones in a balanced mosaic composition. Each cutout shape carries expressive brushstrokes and subtle pale splatters in soft grey and dusty lilac, set against a brushed olive-brown background that gives the design a grounded, structural rhythm. The interplay between dark cool slabs and warm contours gives this mural wallpaper an architectural presence without feeling rigid. Like all our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We see Ancient Pathways II working especially well across a wider living room wall or behind a dining table, where the full horizontal arrangement of stone-like forms can unfold across the space. Because the composition relies on varied geometric silhouettes rather than a tight, repetitive grid, giving it an uninterrupted wall allows the balance of negative space and painted detail to really take hold. In an entryway or home office, it creates an immediate sense of quiet structure, bringing artistic weight to the wall without overwhelming smaller furniture pieces positioned along its base.

Styling it

To complement the architectural feel of the motif, we would pair this design with clean-lined furniture that shares its honest, grounded character. Low-profile credenzas or seating in dark-stained wood or matte black metal help echo the deeper slate tones within the cutouts. For softer contrast, upholstery in textured neutral weaves or unbleached canvas balances the graphic edges of the shapes, keeping the surrounding space warm and inviting.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on deep charcoal and slate blues with pale lavender-grey paint gestures, outlined by rich olive-brown and muted gold undertones. When choosing paint for adjoining walls or woodwork, muted stone greys, warm taupes, or soft putty shades connect naturally with the background tones. If you prefer deeper contrast, charcoal grey or espresso accents will draw out the darkest values of the painted slabs.
