Wallpaper - Vintage Horse Portrait II

Our Vintage Horse Portrait II wallpaper by Crimson Cottage captures a handsome bay horse in profile against a soft landscape of gentle river bends, leafy trees, and pale sky. What we particularly appreciate about this mural design is the classic equestrian oil-painting aesthetic, where visible brushstroke texture and rich chestnut-brown tones stand out against muted meadow greens and hazy blue water. The composition gives the horse a poised, statuesque presence while keeping the background calm and open. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is made to measure to your exact wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure.

In the room

Because this is a scenic mural with a strong central subject, we would give it a wide, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full profile of the horse and the sweeping landscape have space to unfold. It works exceptionally well in an entryway, living room, study, or dining area where the equestrian artwork can serve as a grounded focal point. In rooms with standard or higher ceilings, the soft gradient of the pale sky provides visual breathing room above head height, preventing the darker tones of the horse and grassy foreground from feeling heavy.

Styling it

The traditional equestrian character of this wallpaper pairs naturally with heritage, rustic, and country house interiors. We suggest leaning into classic, understated furniture that complements the painting's timeless feel without competing with the subject.

Darker wood furniture, such as antique walnut, mahogany, or warm oak, echoes the rich chestnut coat of the horse. Upholstered seating in muted wool, deep forest green velvet, or aged leather balances the pastoral palette while adding tailored comfort. Keeping surrounding accessories pared back lets the painted landscape take center stage.

Colour combinations

The palette within our wallpaper features rich bay and chestnut browns, deep moss greens, soft willow greens, pale river blues, and creamy sky tones. When selecting paint or textiles to accompany the mural, warm off-white or soft cream on adjacent walls and woodwork keeps the overall atmosphere airy and bright. For a cozier, more enveloping room, pulling out the deep forest green or a subtle warm taupe from the foreground creates a seamless, grounded connection to the artwork.
