Wallpaper - Having A Friend Over

Our Having A Friend Over wallpaper mural, created by Kate Jarvik Birch, features an upright cheetah perched attentively on an armchair against a soft pink backdrop. What we particularly like about this design is the contrast between the bold, spotted coat of the wild cat and the quiet, painterly tones of the pink upholstery. The hand-painted look brings expressive brushwork and charming visual character to the composition, turning a single wall into a striking focal point. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our mural wallpapers bring an artful presence to the home.

In the room

Because of its centered subject and illustrative composition, we see this design working best as an accent wall where the entire motif has room to be appreciated. In a living room or bedroom, placing this wall mural behind low furniture, such as a low credenza or bed frame, allows the cheetah and chair to remain fully visible without visual clutter. The warm pink background and deep graphic spots also make it a playful addition to a dressing room or a home office, bringing personality to spaces where you want a single piece of statement artwork to define the atmosphere.

Styling it

We recommend pairing this wallpaper with relatively quiet surroundings so the illustrated motif takes center stage.

• Choose furniture with clean, understated silhouettes to balance the painterly details of the illustrated armchair.
• Bring in warm wood finishes, like walnut or oak, to complement the amber and golden tones in the cheetah's fur and the wooden chair legs.
• Keep surrounding textiles in solid, grounded neutrals or muted pastels rather than competing patterns.

Colour combinations

The design centres around a palette of dusty pink, ochre, rich black, and soft cream, grounded by deep plum shadows. To complement these shades, we suggest pulling the warm cream and dusty rose tones onto adjoining walls, painted woodwork, or linen curtains. Dark charcoal accents in lighting fixtures or metal hardware will echo the cheetah's spots, while soft terracotta or warm beige furnishings naturally harmonize with the painting's underlying warmth.
