Wallpaper - Diner Reflections

Our Diner Reflections wallpaper, created by Kate Jarvik Birch, captures a quiet moment with a painted-looking study of a jade green coffee cup, saucer, and spoon set against a deep crimson backdrop. What we particularly like about this design is the bold interplay of light and reflection, rendered with expressive brushwork, crisp highlights, and rich contrasts between warm burgundies, cool mint tones, and deep coffee shades. It brings an intimate, nostalgic diner atmosphere to the wall while maintaining a graphic, contemporary character. Like all our wallpapers, this mural is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure.

In the room

We see this design working especially well in a dining room, kitchen, or a dedicated breakfast nook where its warm, beverage-inspired subject matter feels completely at home. Because the motif has a distinct focal point and strong visual presence, we like it best on a feature wall where the composition can be enjoyed without too much visual competition.

In a kitchen dining area, placing this wallpaper on an uninterrupted wall beside a dining table allows the rich color blocks and reflective details to stand out clearly. It also brings plenty of personality to a smaller dining space or home cafe corner, where the deep red and teal tones help define a cozy, welcoming zone within an open-plan layout.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we suggest letting the wallpaper carry the decorative focus and keeping nearby furniture relatively clean in form. Mid-century modern furniture shapes or vintage-inspired dining chairs pair naturally with the diner theme, while contemporary minimalist pieces create a crisp, intentional contrast.

For surrounding surfaces, warm wood tones like teak or walnut echo the nostalgic quality of the painting without fighting the color palette. If you prefer painted furniture, a muted dark charcoal, off-white, or soft olive green piece keeps the room grounded and allows the vibrant jade cup and rich background to remain the main attraction.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres around rich crimson red, cool jade green, deep coffee browns, and bright white highlights, accented with soft mint and slate blue reflections on the tabletop.

To build a balanced room scheme, consider pairing this mural with surrounding walls painted in a soft, chalky off-white or light muted greige to let the bold tones pop. For a cozier and more dramatic space, drawing out the deep burgundy or forest green for adjacent trim or nearby cabinetry creates a rich, enveloping look that frames the mural beautifully.
