Wallpaper - English Hillside

Our English Hillside wallpaper brings an expressive landscape into the room, created by artist Silvia Vassileva. What we particularly like about this design is its painterly character, where fluid brushwork and visible canvas-like texture define rolling fields, distant hills, and sweeping cloud formations. A soft, earthy palette of muted sand, olive green, warm ochre, and gentle grey is lifted by vibrant sweeps of heather pink and rust across the midground. The open horizon and expansive sky give the composition a sense of depth and breathing room, making it an inviting scenic backdrop. Like all our wall murals, it is made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

Because this mural wallpaper functions as a continuous scenic landscape, we see it working especially well on a main feature wall in a living room, dining area, or bedroom. The composition naturally draws the eye outward, with the horizon line anchoring the lower half while the billowy clouds open up the upper portion of the wall. In a living room, placing this design behind a low sofa allows the distant hills and painterly sky to remain fully visible. In a bedroom, installing it behind a headboard creates an expansive, grounded atmosphere behind the bed. The design also works beautifully in an open dining room or home office where a larger, uninterrupted wall gives the full breadth of the landscape room to unfold.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we prefer to keep the surrounding furniture simple and grounded so the expressive brushwork remains the focal point. Low-profile furniture in natural, warm wood tones such as oak or mid-toned walnut sits comfortably against the earthy foreground. For upholstery and larger textiles, matte woven fabrics in neutral oatmeal, soft beige, or deep olive green complement the landscape without competing with its movement. Subtle accents in brushed brass or muted copper can pick up the warm ochre and rust brushstrokes scattered throughout the fields.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on soft beige, sandy cream, and muted stone greys across the sky and foreground, contrasted by olive greens, warm rust, and a distinct streak of heather pink. For adjacent walls and trim, warm off-whites, soft stone, or pale biscuit create a seamless, cohesive backdrop. If you prefer deeper contrast in surrounding woodwork or cabinetry, an earthy olive green or muted charcoal grey grounds the room while echoing the trees and shadowed terrain in the design.
