Wallpaper - Moonlit Garden VII

Our Moonlit Garden VII wallpaper brings together delicate botanical illustration and vintage ephemera against a soft, weathered background. Designed by Katie Pertiet, the composition features slender cosmos blossoms with striped burgundy and pale green petals alongside a detailed moth and delicate dragonflies. Faded typographic fragments, botanical silhouettes, and subtle brushwork layer softly behind the main subjects in tones of chalky blue, sage, cream, and muted taupe. At Wallism, we produce our wallpapers made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure.

In the room

The open composition and gentle tonal range make this wallpaper an appealing choice for spaces where you want a calm, decorative presence. In a bedroom, we see this working beautifully on the wall behind the headboard, where the tall floral stems and hovering moth create a gentle focal point without overwhelming the room.

Because the background features a soft wash of pale blue and sage rather than a heavy block color, the design adapts well to smaller rooms, such as a guest bedroom, study, or hallway. On an uninterrupted wall in a living room, the fine details of the vintage lettering and delicate insect wings invite closer viewing. In rooms with ample natural daylight, the gentle contrast between the pale backdrop and the deeper botanical accents remains crisp and easy to appreciate.

Styling it

To complement the archival, botanical character of this design, we suggest keeping surrounding furniture relatively classic and understated. Painted wooden pieces in off-white, soft taupe, or weathered grey let the artwork remain the central element on the wall.

When choosing textiles for curtains or bedding, muted linens and soft cottons in natural oatmeal, washed sage, or pale slate blue connect effortlessly with the background layers. Avoid overly bold or graphic patterns nearby; instead, pair the mural wallpapers with quiet textures that echo the gentle, vintage-inspired atmosphere of Katie Pertiet's artwork.

Colour combinations

The design is built around a palette of pale sky blue, muted sage green, ivory, soft taupe, and deep charcoal, with fine accents of burgundy on the petals.

When painting adjoining walls or woodwork, we recommend pairing this wallpaper with creamy off-white or a very pale grey-blue to extend the airy feel of the background. If you prefer deeper contrast in trim or cabinetry, a muted slate grey or an earthy, desaturated sage draws out the finer botanical outlines. Soft charcoal accents on light fixtures or hardware also pick up the darker tones of the moth and typographic details.
