Wallpaper - Heart of Glass

Created in collaboration with Kate Jarvik Birch, our Heart of Glass wallpaper brings an expressive, painted aesthetic to life through a central heart motif set against a cool, atmospheric backdrop. What we particularly like about this design is the contrast between the sculptural, fluid shape of the heart and the rain-streaked, painterly brushwork behind it. Tones of slate blue, deep navy, cool grey, and subtle lilac are highlighted by white droplet-like markings that give the central form a reflective, frosted appearance. As with all our wall murals, it is produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical paper structure, making it straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because of its strong focal motif and painterly composition, we see this mural wallpaper working particularly well on a dedicated accent wall where the central heart has space to command visual focus. In a bedroom, placing it behind the headboard creates an intimate and grounded focal point. It also suits a creative home office, study, or living room where you want to introduce an artistic, contemplative presence without overwhelming the space. The cool blue-grey palette feels calm and anchored, pairing naturally with spaces that receive steady daylight to bring out the subtle gradations across the background strokes.

Styling it

To balance the bold central silhouette of our wallpaper, we suggest keeping the surrounding furniture clean and understated. Low-profile furniture in dark painted tones, deep charcoal, or black metal complements the heavy navy base of the heart motif. For textiles, cool-toned wools, washed linens, or muted slate upholstery maintain the atmospheric mood of the room without introducing competing visual patterns. Subtle touches of clear glass or brushed steel around the space echo the cool, frosted visual texture of the artwork.

Colour combinations

The palette within our design centres on cool blues, deep indigo, dusty slate, muted lavender-grey, and crisp white accents. When styling the surrounding interior, we recommend pairing the wallpaper with chalky off-whites or soft grey-blue paints on adjacent walls to keep the room light and cohesive. For a richer, more enveloping feel, deeper navy or charcoal trims create an elegant, grounded frame. Muted dusty rose or pale lilac accents also work beautifully by picking up the delicate warm undertones in the lower background.
