Wallpaper - Southern Bay

Our Southern Bay wallpaper mural brings an expressive, painted coastal impression into the home, created from an artwork by Silvia Vassileva. Broad brushstrokes build a rich waterscape where deep cobalt, turquoise, and violet tones in the foreground meet reflections of warm amber, soft rose, and hazy sky blues. The horizontal composition and painterly cloud formations create an expansive atmosphere across the wall, making it a compelling focal point in a living room, dining space, or bedroom. Made-to-measure according to your wall dimensions, our PVC-free wallpapers feature a subtle paper texture that complements the visual depth of the brushwork.

In the room

Because Southern Bay is composed as a sweeping landscape painting, we think it works best on a wider, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full horizon line and open sky can unfold naturally. In a living room, placing this wall mural behind a low-profile sofa lets the rich blue and teal water tones anchor the seating area while the lighter cloud layers lift the upper part of the room.

In a dining room or bedroom, the horizontal movement of the brushstrokes helps give the space an open, scenic character. We would avoid breaking up the mural with tall bookcases or heavy wall storage; instead, give the design room to breathe so the interplay between deep coastal shades and soft sky highlights remains uninterrupted. In rooms with ample natural light, the warmer ochre and coral tones in the clouds stand out with clarity, while in evening light, the deeper navy and violet shades in the water take on a moodier, enveloping presence.

Styling it

With a mural wallpaper that carries this much color and artistic movement, we recommend keeping surrounding furniture shapes simple and uncluttered. Low-slung seating, clean-lined credenzas, and unembellished silhouettes allow the sweeping painted horizon to remain the primary visual statement.

To balance the cool water tones, pair the wall mural with warm wood elements, such as teak or medium oak, which pick up on the amber and golden hues in the sky. When choosing upholstery and larger floor coverings, look to muted, grounding neutrals like sandy beige, warm taupe, or soft slate blue. This prevents competing patterns from clashing with the lively brushwork while maintaining a harmonious, design-led space.

Colour combinations

The palette within our Southern Bay design is defined by rich blues, teal, and deep purple across the water, contrasted by soft sky blue, warm yellow-ochre, muted rose, and touches of charcoal.

When painting adjacent walls or selecting trim, we suggest choosing a muted warm grey, soft off-white, or pale sand to complement the light in the upper half of the motif without competing with it. For accent pieces, curtains, or cushions, pulling out the warmer tones like dusty rose, mustard, or deep ocean blue helps tie the entire room together effortlessly.
