Wallpaper - Waiting Game

Capturing the solitary presence of an American bison standing in a grassy meadow, our Waiting Game wallpaper mural brings a grounding, photographic energy to the interior. Created by Nathan Larson, this black and white design contrasts the deep, textured coat and powerful silhouette of the bison against a soft, weathered field. The gentle vintage grain and open landscape allow the animal to serve as an evocative focal point without overwhelming the surrounding space. Like all of our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We see this mural working especially well on a wide feature wall in a living room, home office, or bedroom where the full landscape can unfold across the room. Because the bison occupies the lower foreground while the upper section remains open and atmospheric, the wallpaper naturally anchors low-profile furniture like a sofa, low headboard, or a minimalist desk. In a living room, placing this design on a continuous, uninterrupted wall allows the horizontal expanse of the grassland to create a quiet sense of depth.

Styling it

To complement the rich monochrome palette and rustic photographic style, we suggest pairing this design with natural materials and clean silhouettes. Low-slung furniture in warm wood tones, such as walnut or oiled oak, helps balance the cool greyscale tones with organic warmth. Keep the surrounding decor relatively restrained by introducing textured, matte textiles like woven wool throws or neutral linen cushions rather than competing bold patterns.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built entirely around deep charcoal blacks, muted greys, and soft off-white highlights. To enhance the monochrome motif, consider painting adjacent walls in a warm pale stone, soft chalk white, or a muted charcoal that echoes the darkest tones in the bison's coat. Matte black accents or dark architectural trim create a striking, cohesive frame around the wallpaper.
