Wallpaper - Trees on The Hilltop I

Created by Danhui Nai, our Trees on The Hilltop I wallpaper mural captures a misty landscape with horses grazing along the crest of a distant ridge. We especially like the contrast between the dark, painterly foreground with its cluster of woodland trees and the pale, textured sky that opens up the top half of the composition. The subtle visual canvas texture throughout the artwork adds an understated, painterly quality to the scene. Like all Wallism wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your exact wall dimensions and is printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure.

In the room

Because the motif is anchored along the lower half of the composition while the upper portion remains open and softly tonal, this design works wonderfully on a primary living room or bedroom wall. In a living room, placing a low sofa against the wall allows the silhouetted horses, hilltop, and expansive sky to stay fully in view above the furniture line. In a bedroom, we see this working exceptionally well behind a headboard, where the gentle horizon line creates a grounded, peaceful backdrop.

The horizontal landscape perspective also makes it a compelling choice for dining rooms or wider hallways, where the panoramic view can visually extend the depth of the space. Because the upper area is quiet and low in contrast, the wallpaper brings visual interest without overwhelming the room.

Styling it

To complement the painterly and natural character of the mural, we suggest pairing it with furniture and textiles that echo its earthy foundation:

• Ground the room with warm wood tones, such as mid-tone oak or walnut, which pick up on the deep brown and charcoal shades in the foreground landscape.
• Layer in soft, unbleached linen or textured wool fabrics in cream, warm stone, or muted oatmeal to mirror the atmospheric sky.
• Choose furniture with clean, low-profile silhouettes so the horizon line and tree details remain uninterrupted across the wall.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres around deep charcoal, earthy dark brown, and muted forest tones in the foreground, transitioning through hazy slate blue and taupe in the midground up to a warm, mottled cream sky.

When decorating the surrounding space, we recommend pulling the warm cream or pale taupe tones onto adjacent walls for a cohesive, enveloping feel. If you prefer more definition, soft charcoal or muted slate grey accents on woodwork, trim, or larger furniture pieces will echo the darker hillside and provide a confident contrast.
