Wallpaper - Abstract Stems I

Created by Cheryl Warrick, our Abstract Stems I wallpaper brings together graphic floral forms with a structured grid backdrop. Broad curving green stems weave across a dark charcoal background, carrying stylised pink blooms with delicate dotted centers and soft green foliage. The contrast between the organic curves of the vines and the subtle linear grid gives the composition a distinct folk-art-inspired character with contemporary clarity. Produced as made-to-measure murals on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure, our wallpapers are straightforward to hang and make a confident design statement.

In the room

We see this design working beautifully on a feature wall in a living room, dining space, or bedroom where its bold silhouettes and dark backdrop can anchor the room. Because the motif balances curving botanical lines with an underlying geometric grid, it holds its own on an expansive, uninterrupted wall behind a sofa or low headboard. In a dining area, the rich contrast creates an intimate setting, while in a creative home office or wide entryway, the rhythmic floral pattern adds immediate personality without overwhelming smaller wall sections.

Styling it

When decorating around this wallpaper, we suggest balancing its graphic boldness with clean, understated furnishings. Mid-toned or lighter wood pieces, like warm oak or ash, create an inviting warmth against the dark charcoal ground, keeping the overall interior grounded. Simple upholstery in neutral tones lets the vivid pink blossoms remain the central visual focus of the space. To echo the design's playful structure, consider incorporating ceramics or accent lighting with rounded, organic shapes that mirror the flowing botanical stems.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built around a deep charcoal grid, rich mossy green stems and leaves, and vibrant pink flower heads with subtle dashed details. For adjacent walls and trim, softer off-whites, warm greys, or muted stone tones provide a clean border that allows the pattern to stand out. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel, drawing out the deep charcoal for painted skirting or matching accent cabinetry produces a cohesive look. Alternatively, pulling through soft sage greens or delicate rose tones in smaller accessories creates a considered link back to the wallpaper palette.
