Wallpaper - Deep Movement I

Our Deep Movement I wallpaper, created with artist Yvette St. Amant, captures the fluid rhythm of sweeping brushstrokes and poured paint in soft tones of off-white, warm grey, and gentle taupe. What we particularly like about this design is the expressive contrast between the sculpted, vertical strokes on one side and the broad, flowing wash across the rest of the composition. The neutral palette keeps the energetic movement grounded and versatile. Like all of our wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure and completely PVC-free, with a subtle structure in the wallpaper paper that complements the visual depth of the artwork.

In the room

The diagonal flow and generous scale of the strokes make this design especially effective on a wider, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full sweep of the composition can unfold. In a living room behind a low-profile sofa, or as a focal point across a bedroom wall, the design introduces artistic movement without overwhelming the space with high-contrast color. Because the palette relies on gentle variations of grey and cream, it works well across both daylight-filled rooms and spaces with softer ambient lighting, where the painted-looking layers retain their subtle tonal definition.

Styling it

To let the dynamic flow of the mural wallpapers take center stage, we suggest pairing this design with quiet, modern furnishings in understated silhouettes. Low-backed seating, streamlined shelving, and furniture with clean horizontal lines help balance the strong diagonal and vertical energy of the artwork.

For surrounding materials, warm, natural wood tones such as ash or pale oak offer a grounding presence against the cool and neutral grey backdrop. Layering in soft, unpatterned textiles in cream, stone, or charcoal helps build a cohesive, comfortable interior while keeping the focus on the wall.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built from a delicate harmony of warm off-white, light grey, muted slate, and soft taupe. When choosing colors for adjacent walls, trim, or major furniture pieces, continuing these chalky, low-contrast neutral tones creates a seamless and serene atmosphere. For spaces where you want a bit more grounding contrast, deeper charcoal or rich graphite accents work naturally with the darker undertones found within the deeper brushstrokes.
