Wallpaper - Shakespeare Classics I

Designed by Omar Escalante, our Shakespeare Classics I wallpaper mural brings a dramatic, literary poster aesthetic to the wall. The composition captures the tragic romance of Romeo and Juliet through two reaching hands in crisp white and black cuffs against a warm, dusky rose-pink backdrop. Between them, a delicate black rose silhouette falls as petals scatter, framed by bold serif typography at the top and the classic quote "Under love's heavy burden do I sink" along the bottom. Produced custom made to measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical texture, this wall mural creates an expressive focal point with graphic clarity.

In the room

We love this design on a clear feature wall where its bold graphic layout and storytelling can take center stage. In a living room, bedroom, or home study, it works best placed on a central, uninterrupted wall surface rather than split across multiple corners. Giving the mural generous breathing room allows the poster proportions and balanced typography to be appreciated as a complete, unified piece of art.

Because the artwork features strong contrast between the deep black elements, bright white hands, and muted rose backdrop, it holds its definition beautifully across varying light conditions. In bright daylight, the painterly nuances of the pink background become more evident, while in lower evening lighting, the stark graphic silhouettes stand out with striking depth.

Styling it

We recommend pairing this wallpaper with relatively quiet interior pieces to let the graphic motif remain the hero of the room. Clean-lined contemporary furniture or minimalist mid-century silhouettes in warm wood tones, such as oak or walnut, echo the warmth of the background while keeping the layout grounded.

To complement the dramatic theatrical mood, incorporate black metal details in lighting fixtures or side tables that tie directly into the dark silhouettes in the print. Keeping larger surrounding textiles simple in neutral linens or soft cottons helps balance the visual presence of the text and figures.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on a dusty rose-pink background balanced by sharp black silhouettes and crisp, clean white highlights.

When choosing colours for surrounding walls and trim, softer off-whites and warm pale neutrals create an easy transition that keeps the mural framed cleanly. For a moodier, more enveloping interior, deep charcoal or matte black on adjacent painted walls or baseboards can pick up on the silhouette details in the artwork, adding dramatic depth. Muted blush and dusty terracotta tones also work well on cushions or accent pieces to pull the background warmth deeper into the room.
