Wallpaper - Push Pull III

Our Push Pull III wallpaper, created by June Erica Vess, brings together sweeping brushwork, layered painterly textures, and a balanced abstract composition. Broad strokes of taupe, warm stone, charcoal, and off-white intersect across the wall, creating a dynamic sense of movement and architectural rhythm. What we particularly appreciate about this design is the contrast between solid, grounded dark planes and energetic, translucent sweeps of lighter tone that give the impression of layered paint on canvas. As with all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that lends gentle depth to large-scale mural wallpapers.

In the room

In a spacious living room or open-plan dining area, we would place this design on a wide, uninterrupted accent wall where the full sweep of the horizontal and diagonal brushstrokes can stretch out naturally. Because the motif has strong visual presence and contrasting graphic weight, giving it room to breathe lets the bold strokes anchor the entire space without feeling crowded.

The layered composition also works beautifully behind a low-profile headboard in a contemporary bedroom or as an inspiring backdrop along a home office wall. If your room features high ceilings, the tall vertical gestures in the artwork help draw the eye upward, reinforcing the vertical scale of the interior while maintaining an earthy, balanced atmosphere.

Styling it

We recommend pairing this expressive design with low-slung, streamlined furniture that respects the horizontal lines in the artwork. Pieces with clean silhouettes, such as a tailored charcoal sofa or a minimalist credenza in blackened oak or natural ash, allow the wall mural to act as the primary visual focus without competing for attention.

To balance the bold painterly marks, introduce soft, woven textures through wool bouclé cushions, heavy linen drapery, or a flat-weave wool rug in understated neutral tones. Keeping surrounding accessories sculptural yet restrained—such as matte ceramic vases or minimalist dark metal lamps—helps maintain a cohesive, gallery-inspired aesthetic.

Colour combinations

The palette within the wallpaper centers on a grounding mix of deep charcoal, cool slate grey, warm taupe, muted beige, and soft chalky white. These balanced neutral tones make it exceptionally versatile to coordinate with surrounding interior surfaces.

For adjoining walls and architectural woodwork, we suggest pulling directly from the lighter tones with a soft off-white, warm oyster, or pale putty paint. If you prefer a moodier, more enveloping feel, echoing the dark charcoal on baseboards, door frames, or adjacent cabinetry provides a striking frame that deepens the architectural presence of the artwork.
