Wallpaper - Moonlit Garden III

Our Moonlit Garden III wallpaper by Katie Pertiet brings together vintage naturalist illustration and layered collage details in a soft, atmospheric composition. At the heart of the design, two finely etched birds rest on a weathered branch, surrounded by delicate botanicals, a ghosted butterfly, and faded ephemera including vintage postage stamps and cursive script. The palette blends soft sage green, pale cream, muted parchment, and charcoal accents with gentle watercolor-like washes. Produced as a made-to-measure design on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it creates an elegant focal point with a quiet, layered depth.

In the room

Because the focal elements are clustered around the central branch and lower corners, this wallpaper works exceptionally well on an accent wall where the delicate layering can be viewed up close. In a bedroom, placing it behind a headboard frames the room with a gentle, romantic backdrop. It also feels right at home in a quiet study, reading nook, or guest room where the subtle script, botanical elements, and vintage illustrations can be appreciated at leisure. On a larger, uninterrupted wall, the soft washes of sage and cream provide an airy, open feel without overpowering the space.

Styling it

We suggest keeping the surrounding furniture relatively understated to let the intricate linework and paper collage aesthetic take center stage. Pieces in soft, painted finishes or pale, natural wood tones complement the muted parchment background without introducing harsh contrast.

For textiles, simple woven fabrics in ecru, washed cream, or pale sage continue the relaxed, tactile feel of the motif. You can accent the room with subtle antiqued brass or patinated metal hardware, which picks up on the vintage ephemera and vintage botanical feel of the artwork.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on a serene foundation of cream, pale parchment, and washed celadon green, punctuated by deep charcoal in the bird illustrations and soft floral centers.

To create a cohesive scheme, we recommend pairing the wallpaper with off-white or soft linen tones on adjoining walls and woodwork. If you want to introduce slightly more depth, a muted eucalyptus or soft sage paint will naturally draw out the leafy botanical accents. For a subtle contrast, warm taupe or charcoal accents in lighting or upholstery ground the lighter background tones.
