Wallpaper - Marsh Midlands II

Created by June Erica Vess, our Marsh Midlands II wallpaper captures the quiet atmosphere of an open marshland through expressive, painterly horizontal brushwork. Broad sweeps of misty blue, muted olive green, soft slate, and warm sandy beige blend together to suggest distant horizons, reflective water, and coastal wetlands. The loose, layered strokes create a gentle sense of depth and horizontal movement across the wall without overwhelming the space. Like all of our mural wallpapers, this design is made to measure to your exact wall dimensions and printed on our PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure.

In the room

We especially like this mural across a wider, uninterrupted wall where its horizontal landscape composition can unfold naturally. In a living room behind a low sofa or along a dining room wall, the layered bands of colour provide an expansive backdrop that feels open and grounded. The gentle transitions between cool water tones and earthy greens also make it a wonderful fit for a bedroom or a quiet home office, where you want visual interest that remains calming to look at throughout the day. In rooms with generous natural light, the subtle shifts between the blue-grey washes and warm ochre undertones become especially rich and distinct.

Styling it

Because the brushwork in this wall mural has such a natural, artistic presence, we recommend keeping larger furniture pieces relatively simple in form. Low-profile seating and clean-lined storage allow the panoramic feel of the landscape to take centre stage.

Warm, natural wood furniture in oak, ash, or mid-toned walnut pairs effortlessly with the earthy greens and sandy hues within the design. To echo the soft, layered mood of the artwork, incorporate relaxed textiles such as unbleached linen drapes, flat-weave wool rugs, or washed cotton cushions in neutral tones. Keeping secondary patterns to a minimum helps preserve the expansive, open feeling of the mural.

Colour combinations

The design itself balances a tranquil palette of misty slate blue, duck-egg tones, olive green, warm khaki, and pale sand.

When choosing paint colours for adjoining walls, woodwork, or ceiling trim, soft warm whites and pale stone tones create a clean, cohesive transition. For a slightly more grounded look, drawing out the deeper olive or grey-green shades onto adjacent doors, trims, or lower panelling creates a tailored, enveloping feel. If you prefer to accent the cooler elements, soft chalky blues and subtle charcoal accents on lighting fixtures or hardware will tie in beautifully with the darker water tones in the foreground.
