Wallpaper - Electron Storm II

Created by June Erica Vess, our Electron Storm II wallpaper captures the expressive energy of abstract painting with broad, fluid washes and layered gestural marks. The composition balances deep petrol blue and slate grey tones against warm mustard yellow, soft ochre, and pale, airy neutrals. Translucent watercolor-like bleeds, scattered pigment splatters, and dynamic drawn line work create a sense of movement across the surface without overwhelming the wall. Our made-to-measure mural wallpapers are printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, bringing an artistic, modern presence to the room while remaining easy to hang.

In the room

Because of its expressive scale and fluid composition, we especially like this design as a focal point on an uninterrupted wall. In a living room, placing the wallpaper behind a low-backed sofa allows the interplay between the deep blue scribbles and the ochre washes to remain visible across the space. The open, painterly structure means the artwork feels expansive rather than rigid, making it equally compelling along a wide dining room wall or behind a headboard in a contemporary bedroom.

In spaces that receive changing natural daylight, the tonal depth of the design shifts beautifully throughout the day. Bright morning light highlights the delicate transitions between the pale cream and watery grey washes, while warmer evening lighting brings out the rich ochre and slate undertones. In a home office or creative studio, the dynamic marks add energy and character to the backdrop without cluttering the visual field.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we recommend letting the expressive painterly marks take centre stage while keeping the surrounding furniture clean-lined and grounded. Low-profile contemporary seating in neutral, woven upholstery creates a calm foundation that balances the visual motion of the artwork.

To complement the rich palette, incorporate warm wood tones such as oak or walnut in coffee tables, shelving, or dining furniture. These natural timber elements echo the warmth of the ochre and mustard washes. For smaller accents, matte black metal lighting or dark charcoal ceramic vessels tie naturally into the deep slate and ink-blue linear details in the motif. Keeping floor rugs and window drapery simple and unpatterned ensures the room feels cohesive and considered.

Colour combinations

The design is built on a sophisticated balance of contrasting warm and cool tones, featuring rich petrol blue, charcoal slate, mustard yellow, ochre, and soft off-white.

When choosing paint colours and materials for adjoining walls, consider pulling out the paler neutral tones from the background to create a light, open atmosphere where the mural becomes the hero. If you prefer a moodier, more immersive feel, pairing the design with a deep slate grey or dark blue-grey on surrounding walls creates an intimate setting. For decorative textiles and upholstery, accents in muted mustard, terracotta, or warm taupe harmonise effortlessly with the golden washes in the print.
