Wallpaper - Emerald Lake Afternoon BW

Photographer Nathan Larson captures the dramatic scale of alpine terrain in this black and white landscape wallpaper. The composition builds in distinct horizontal bands, beginning with calm lake reflections at the bottom, rising into a dense evergreen forest, and culminating in soaring, weathered rock faces and a sharp mountain peak against a pale sky. What we particularly appreciate about this mural wallpaper is the balance between the deep, shadowed tones of the tree line and the intricate highlights across the craggy cliff faces. Our wall murals are made-to-measure to fit your room's exact dimensions, printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that brings out fine tonal shifts.

In the room

Because of its strong vertical composition and architectural rock formations, we see this wallpaper working especially well as a focal wall in a living room, dining area, or behind the bed in a bedroom. The clear contrast between the dark forest belt below and the lighter mountain peaks above creates natural grounding at eye level while drawing the gaze upward, making it an excellent choice for rooms with standard or higher ceilings. On an open, relatively uninterrupted wall, the full breadth of the mountain ridge and water reflections can unfold without interruption. In a home office or study, the monochrome depth brings an expansive, quiet focus to the space.

Styling it

The graphic presence of black and white photography allows for versatile interior pairings, whether your home leans minimalist, contemporary, or classic. We suggest balancing the bold tonal contrasts with organic materials and clean lines.

• Warm wood furniture, such as natural oak, walnut, or ash, softens the monochrome palette and connects with the outdoor landscape theme.
• Textured neutral fabrics, like thick wool throws, linen upholstery, or woven rugs in charcoal, ivory, or heather grey, add depth without competing for visual attention.
• Clean-lined matte black lighting fixtures or understated metal accents provide an intentional visual dialogue with the deep shadows in the pine forest.

Colour combinations

The motif itself is composed of deep blacks, rich charcoals, mid-tone greys, and soft off-white highlights. When choosing surrounding wall colors, cabinetry, or textiles, consider these directions:

• Soft chalky whites and warm greys allow the wallpaper to stand out as the primary visual element while keeping the room bright and open.
• Deep charcoal or slate on adjacent walls or woodwork can create a cohesive, enveloping atmosphere that echoes the darker forest tones.
• Muted earth tones such as warm taupe, sand, or deep forest green provide a subtle, organic contrast that enriches the monochrome landscape.
