Wallpaper - Vintage English Countryside IV

Our Vintage English Countryside IV wallpaper, designed by Crimson Cottage, brings the quiet beauty of a pastoral landscape into the home. Painted with soft, visible brushwork, the motif features rolling meadows, mature trees, and billowing cumulus clouds across an open sky. We particularly like how the muted olive greens, warm earth tones, and clouded cream hues create an atmospheric, timeless backdrop. Produced to order as made-to-measure wall murals, our wallpapers are printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that lends gentle depth to every scenic detail.

In the room

Because this mural wallpaper functions as an expansive landscape painting, we think it works best on an uninterrupted wall where the full horizon and sky can breathe. In a living room or behind a dining table, the open field and towering trees provide depth without overwhelming the surrounding space. We also see this design working beautifully in a bedroom, positioned behind a headboard to create a peaceful, grounding focal point. In rooms with ample daylight, the delicate tonal transitions in the clouds and grassy foreground become especially clear, while softer evening lamplight enhances the warm, earthy undertones throughout the scene.

Styling it

When styling around this scenic mural, we recommend balancing the soft, painterly artwork with simple, grounded interior elements.

• Choose furniture with clean, traditional or mid-century silhouettes in warm wood tones, such as oak or walnut, to echo the natural countryside palette.
• Introduce unpatterned, tactile textiles like linen curtains or a flatweave wool rug in off-white, oatmeal, or muted taupe to keep the visual focus on the wall.
• Add small accents in aged brass, blackened metal, or rustic stoneware ceramics to complement the vintage character of the landscape without competing with its details.

Colour combinations

The design is built around a gentle, nature-inspired palette of soft moss and olive greens, warm ochre, muted meadow tones, and cloudy off-white. When choosing paint colours for adjoining walls, woodwork, or ceiling surfaces, we suggest pulling directly from these quieter shades. A soft chalky white or warm stone grey on adjacent walls keeps the room light and cohesive. For a more enveloping, heritage feel, painting surrounding trim or baseboards in a complementary muted olive or deep sage green frames the wallpaper naturally.
