Wallpaper - Ancient Pathways I

Our Ancient Pathways I wallpaper, designed by Nikita Jariwala, brings together abstract cut-out shapes and expressive, painted brushwork in an earthy, balanced composition. Dark slate-grey and indigo-toned fragments with visible paint streaks, splashes, and subtle pale pinkish-white highlights are bordered by broad, meandering pathways of warm muted olive-brown. The interplay between geometric structure and loose artistic gesture creates a striking, gallery-like presence on the wall. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure, our wallpapers are straightforward to hang and easy to integrate into modern homes.

In the room

We see Ancient Pathways I working particularly well as an accent wall in a living room, dining room, or quiet home office. Because the composition relies on distinct horizontal and angular shapes framed by pathway-like borders, giving the design an uninterrupted wall area lets the complete mosaic rhythm unfold naturally. In an open-plan living area, placing the mural wallpaper behind a low-backed sofa or along a primary dining wall establishes a clear focal anchor without overwhelming the rest of the space. The muted depth of the palette also makes it a compelling backdrop in a bedroom, where the earthy ground softens the visual contrast.

Styling it

To let the graphic presence of the wallpaper take center stage, we recommend pairing it with streamlined, understated furniture. Low-profile pieces in warm wood, such as walnut or smoked oak, resonate naturally with the olive-brown channels between the forms. Matte black metal accents or dark charcoal upholstery help echo the deep tones inside the painted segments, while keeping the overall room calm and architectural.

Colour combinations

The design itself centers around deep charcoal-slate, cool blue-grey, pale brushstroke highlights, and a warm, earthy olive-taupe background. For surrounding walls, we suggest matching the warm undertones with soft pebble grey, muted taupe, or deep olive paint shades. If you prefer higher contrast, an off-white with warm undertones will keep the room bright while allowing the dark cut-out forms of the wall murals to stand out crisply.
