Wallpaper - Collage Insects I

Our Collage Insects I wallpaper by Courtney Prahl brings a distinctive, illustrative charm to the wall with its playful mixed-media composition. At the heart of the design sits a stylized moth or butterfly motif, rendered with painterly textures, bold pinks, rich reds, and bright turquoise circular accents on its layered wings. This central insect is framed within an off-white parchment-toned square, which rests against a light sky-blue background patterned with hand-drawn vertical stripes. The combination of collage-like paper textures, graphic framing, and soft linear rhythm gives the mural a warm, artistic character. Made-to-measure to fit your specific wall dimensions, our PVC-free wallpapers also feature a subtle paper structure that adds depth to the printed design.

In the room

We love how the central motif and vertical striped background structure a space, making this mural wallpaper especially suited to bedrooms, creative home offices, nurseries, and playful living areas. In a smaller bedroom or study, placing this design on a primary accent wall behind a bed or desk establishes an expressive focal point without overwhelming the surrounding room. The vertical blue stripes create a gentle sense of height, drawing the eye upward and helping compact walls feel taller and more open. On a larger, uninterrupted wall, the clean border around the central collage allows the motif to read like an oversized piece of curated artwork.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we suggest balancing its graphic collage elements and playful color palette with simple, grounded furnishings. Mid-tone natural wood furniture or painted white pieces keep the focus on the central motif, while clean-lined silhouettes prevent the room from feeling busy. For textiles and decorative accents, picking up on the softer sky-blue or introducing small touches of vibrant pink through cushions, ceramic objects, or simple woven throws creates a cohesive dialogue across the room without visual clutter.

Colour combinations

The design centres around vivid shades of bubblegum pink, deep berry red, and bright turquoise against an off-white inset, framed by a soft sky-blue and darker blue-striped border. For surrounding walls and woodwork, a crisp soft white or a muted chalky cream complements the central square and lets the mural stand out crisply. If you prefer a more enveloping look, pairing the design with a light pastel blue or a soft periwinkle on adjacent walls echoes the striped backdrop, while deeper navy accents can anchor the room and echo the dark tones found within the insect's body.
