Wallpaper - Sphere IV

Created by Kathy Ferguson, our Sphere IV wallpaper brings together abstract painterly expression and layered geometric forms. What we particularly like about this design is the interplay between broad brushstrokes, soft washes, and energetic graphic marks. The composition balances rounded shapes in lilac, violet, and vibrant pink with grounding blocks of sky blue, muted lavender, pale butter yellow, and chalky white. Delicate charcoal-like loops and linear gestures add movement across the layered surface, giving the artwork a collaged, mixed-media character. Printed as made-to-measure wallpaper, our PVC-free paper features a subtle surface texture that complements the visual depth of the painted brushwork.

In the room

In a living room or modern dining area, we see this design working especially well on an open, uninterrupted feature wall where the scale and asymmetry of the composition can be appreciated in full. The balance of lively pinks and calming blues allows the wall mural to serve as a confident focal point without overwhelming the surrounding space. In a creative home office or bedroom, positioning the mural wallpaper behind a desk or bed creates a layered, expressive backdrop that feels both thoughtful and artful.

Because the design carries distinct visual movement from the central spherical forms outward into softer fields of color, it benefits from having some breathing room. We would pair it with low-profile furniture along the base to keep the central graphic elements in view, allowing the full composition to unfold naturally across the wall.

Styling it

When styling around Sphere IV, we recommend letting the wallpaper lead the palette while keeping adjacent elements grounded and tactile. Clean-lined contemporary furniture in neutral upholstery, such as off-white or light grey linen, creates a calm baseline against the active brushwork.

To complement the artwork's artistic character, bring in warm, natural wood finishes like ash or pale birch, which echo the softness of the yellow accents without adding visual weight. Matte ceramic accents and simple sculptural lighting with clean silhouettes work well to balance the dynamic, gestural marks of the mural without competing for attention.

Colour combinations

Our wallpaper features a verified palette of soft lilac, rich magenta, sky blue, cornflower, pale yellow, and chalky white, accented by deep charcoal line work.

When choosing colors for surrounding walls, trim, or larger soft furnishings, we suggest drawing from the softer background tones. A muted off-white or pale chalk grey on adjacent walls keeps the room open and lets the artwork stand out. For a cozier or more immersive feel, a dusty lavender or gentle slate blue taken directly from the cooler fields of the motif creates a seamless, tonal flow throughout the interior.
