Wallpaper - Wanaka Sheep III

Our Wanaka Sheep III wallpaper features a striking black and white photographic scene captured by Laura Marshall, showing a small group of sheep scattered along a grassy hillside against a backdrop of snow-dusted alpine peaks and cloud-filled skies. What we particularly like about this design is the balance between the open landscape and the curious, direct gaze of the animals standing on the rocky slope. The monochrome palette ranges from deep charcoal in the foreground grass to crisp white along the mountain ridges, giving the mural a clear sense of depth and perspective. Made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions, our PVC-free wallpapers bring this expansive mountain landscape directly into your interior.

In the room

We see this photographic mural working especially well on an accent wall in a living room, dining area, or home office where the landscape has enough breadth to unfold. Because the composition slopes naturally from left to right, placing it on a wider, relatively uninterrupted wall allows the sheep in the midground and the sweeping mountain range behind them to be seen clearly. In a bedroom, positioning the design behind a low headboard keeps the animals and the mountain peaks visible above the bed frame.

Styling it

To complement the monochrome photography, we would keep the surrounding furniture simple and grounded. Natural timber furniture in muted or mid-tone finishes works nicely alongside the rustic hill-country theme without competing with the photography. Clean-lined upholstery in textured neutrals such as charcoal, slate grey, or off-white echoes the tonal layers of the hillside, while matte black architectural lighting or hardware ties into the deepest contrast points in the image.

Colour combinations

The design itself relies entirely on a monochrome spectrum of deep charcoal, slate greys, soft misty tones, and bright snow white. Around it, we suggest pairing the wallpaper with off-white or soft grey painted walls to keep the space open and calm. If you prefer a richer setting, deep charcoal or near-black painted trim creates a defined frame that highlights the tonal contrast of the mountains.
