Wallpaper - Persephone

Designed by Kate Jarvik Birch, our Persephone wallpaper brings an expressive, illustrative portrait into the room with rich painterly layers and bold botanical storytelling. The composition places a woman's face amidst lush foliage and blooming flowers in soft pinks, warm yellows, coral, and deep indigo blues, complemented by a vivid green grasshopper perched along the right. What we particularly like is the gouache-like, hand-painted appearance of the brushwork, which gives the motif depth and artistic presence across a wall. Produced as made-to-measure mural wallpapers on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it is straightforward to hang and easy to adapt to your specific space.

In the room

With such an expressive, character-led motif, this wallpaper works wonderfully as a dedicated accent wall where the full portrait can command attention. In a bedroom behind a headboard or along a primary living room wall, the large scale of the figure and surrounding flora creates an immediate focal point. We also see this working beautifully in a creative home office, study, or a boutique dining space where a vibrant, story-driven atmosphere feels right at home. Because the artwork has rich depth and tonal contrast, giving it an uninterrupted expanse of wall allows the interplay between the blue background and the warm floral tones to unfold naturally.

Styling it

To let the artwork remain the centerpiece of the room, we suggest keeping larger surrounding furniture grounded and visually quiet. Clean-lined mid-century or contemporary silhouettes in warm wood tones, such as walnut or teak, pair naturally with the rich earthiness of the palette. For textiles, simple unpatterned fabrics in muted terracotta, dusty rose, or deep indigo help echo the colors in the illustration without competing for visual dominance. Matte ceramic accents and understated dark metal fixtures will balance the organic, fluid brushstrokes of the wall mural.

Colour combinations

The motif features an evocative blend of deep navy blue, soft blush and coral pinks, warm ochre, leafy greens, and gentle skin tones. When choosing paint for adjacent walls or trim, a warm off-white or muted putty creates a soft, balanced frame that lets the mural pop. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel, pulling a deep navy or dark slate from the background onto surrounding woodwork creates an intimate, dramatic space. For smaller decor accents, warm mustard yellow or soft rose will naturally highlight the botanical details.
