Wallpaper - Found A Way Out

Created by Kate Jarvik Birch, our Found A Way Out wallpaper brings a playful, artistic focal point into a room with its painted-style illustration of a ginger tabby cat peering through a torn paper opening. The expressive wide green eyes, soft pink nose, and delicate white whiskers stand out sharply against the cool, pale blue backdrop and subtle grey shadow detailing around the torn edge. What we especially like about this design is how the warm ginger and amber tones of the cat create an immediate, lively contrast with the quiet blue field. Produced as made-to-measure wallpaper, each mural is PVC-free and features a subtle physical structure in the paper.

In the room

Because of the bold, central nature of the motif, we see this working particularly well as an accent wall in a living room, hallway, bedroom, or children's room. Placing our wall murals on a relatively uninterrupted wall allows the playful trompe l'œil effect of the cat breaking through the surface to have full visual impact. In a hallway or entryway, it offers an unexpected, charming greeting. If used in a bedroom or study, we suggest placing it on the primary view wall where the focal point remains unobstructed by tall shelving or oversized furniture.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we prefer to keep the surrounding furniture simple and grounded so the artwork remains the focal point. Mid-toned or lighter woods, such as ash or natural birch, pair nicely with the cat's ginger hues without competing for attention. Clean-lined contemporary seating or painted furniture in quiet off-white, light grey, or soft denim blue balances the strong visual presence of the motif. To keep the atmosphere cohesive, you might introduce a few understated ceramic accessories or textured throw cushions in soft terracotta or warm ochre to echo the cat's coat.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper centers on warm ginger orange, amber, and chestnut brown across the cat's face, complemented by clear green eyes and a pale rose nose. The background is a calm, icy sky blue framed by soft slate-grey shadows around the torn paper cutout. In the surrounding room, soft off-white, pale blue-grey, or light sand tones on adjacent walls will keep the overall feel balanced and airy. If you want a richer accent tone, deep navy or muted rust in smaller decor pieces will naturally tie back into the mural's key colors.
