Wallpaper - Sunset on Texas

Captured by Nathan Larson, our Sunset on Texas wallpaper brings the expansive atmosphere of the open plains into the home. The composition centers on a setting sun breaking along the horizon, casting radiating sunbeams across the sweeping desert terrain below and upward into dramatic cloud banks. Rendered in a warm, muted palette of dusty taupe, soft sand, and glowing sepia, this photographic wall mural establishes an open sense of depth and perspective. Like all of our wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that hangs cleanly and easily.

In the room

Because of its strong central horizon and dramatic perspective, we see this wall mural working particularly well as an accent wall in a living room, bedroom, or dining area. Placing the mural on a wide, uninterrupted wall behind a low sofa or a bed frame allows the radiating light and distant silhouettes to maintain their visual impact without being crowded. In rooms with lower ceilings, the upward reach of the sunbeams helps draw the eye across the full height of the space, while in larger open-plan rooms, the expansive landscape adds a grounded focal point that connects surrounding seating areas.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we recommend keeping larger furniture pieces relatively low in profile to preserve the open sightline of the horizon. Simple, unornamented silhouettes in warm wood tones, such as honey oak or walnut, echo the earthy warmth of the landscape without competing with the photography.

For surrounding textiles, opt for soft, tactile fabrics in quiet neutrals like oat, sand, or unbleached cotton. Matte black accents on light fixtures or side tables can provide a grounded contrast that ties back into the darker silhouettes along the distant ridge line.

Color combinations

The design is built upon a delicate spectrum of warm sepia, sandy beige, soft golden highlights, and muted earth tones. To complement these shades, we suggest pairing adjacent walls and architectural trim with gentle off-whites, warm taupe, or soft clay tones that maintain the room's warm glow. If you prefer deeper contrast, charcoal grey or dark espresso brown used on cabinetry or accent furniture provides a striking anchor for the lighter, sunlit portions of the mural wallpapers.
