Wallpaper - Beyond the Border Wall II

Our Beyond the Border Wall II wallpaper, created by Nathan Larson, brings an expansive desert landscape into the home through soft horizontal layers and atmospheric depth. Silhouetted mountain ridges in hazy slate and indigo blue rise against a wide horizon, balanced by the luminous warmth of a pale golden sky. A subtle weathered, painterly texture softens the contrast across the panorama, giving the vista an open and tranquil visual character. Like all our wall murals, this design is produced made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a gentle surface structure.

In the room

We see this design working especially well across a wide, uninterrupted wall in a living room, bedroom, or dining room where the horizontal breadth of the desert horizon can unfold without interruption. Because the mountain silhouettes occupy the lower half of the composition and give way to a generous wash of golden sky above, the wallpaper creates a strong sense of visual openness that suits rooms with standard or lower ceilings. In a home office or study, positioning the motif along the main wall behind a desk introduces a calm, distant focal point that anchors the room without feeling heavy or visually crowded.

Styling it

The broad horizontal composition and quiet palette make this an adaptable backdrop for rooms with clean lines and low-profile furniture. We would keep large pieces, such as low sofas or platform beds, below the mountain ridge line so the silhouette remains clearly visible across the room.

Furniture in warm wood tones, such as ash or pale oak, naturally echoes the ochre and golden hues in the upper sky, while matte black metal accents or deep navy textiles can pick up the darker blue tones along the distant hills. Keeping surrounding fabrics simple and lightly textured helps balance the atmospheric finish of the mural wallpapers without competing for attention.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on a serene dialogue between cool mountain blues and warm desert light, featuring dusty indigo, slate, soft ochre, warm sand, and glowing pale amber.

When choosing colors for adjacent painted walls and woodwork, we suggest drawing out the softer tones from the motif. Muted sandy beige, warm off-white, or soft stone on neighboring walls create a cohesive and luminous environment. For a more defined, grounded interior, a deep navy or dusty slate blue applied to doors, baseboards, or cabinetry provides a tailored frame that deepens the blues in the landscape.
