Wallpaper - Moonlit Garden VIII

Our Moonlit Garden VIII wallpaper, created by Katie Pertiet, brings together delicate botanical illustration, vintage ephemera, and detailed natural history motifs. The composition features a finely detailed butterfly poised alongside cascading wisteria-like floral clusters and green leaves, set against a layered background of antique script, botanical typography, and faded ornamental flourishes. Soft duck-egg blues, muted greens, creamy parchment, and charcoal tones create a gentle, atmospheric palette with a collage-like depth. Like all Wallism wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

We see this wallpaper working beautifully as an accent wall in a bedroom or behind a sofa in a living room, where the intricate details can be appreciated up close. The asymmetrical composition, with lush floral draping from the top right and the butterfly resting lower on the left, gives the wall a natural visual movement that feels both airy and grounded. In a quiet reading corner or home office, the design provides an engaging backdrop without overwhelming the space. Because the artwork relies on subtle contrast and layered vintage script, it benefits from a wall that receives good natural daylight to let each layer of illustration show through.

Styling it

To complement the delicate, vintage character of this mural wallpaper, we suggest pairing it with timeless, understated interior pieces.

• Warm, natural wood furniture such as oak or mid-toned walnut helps balance the cooler blue and pale tones of the background.
• Soft, unpatterned textiles in off-white, oatmeal, or washed linen keep the focus on the intricate botanical details of the wall.
• Subtle antique brass or brushed metal accents in lighting and hardware echo the vintage, archival character of the typography.

Colour combinations

The palette in this wallpaper is anchored by muted slate blue, soft sage green, aged parchment, and soft charcoal. When decorating around it, we recommend drawing from the softest background tones for adjacent painted walls, such as warm off-white, light chalky beige, or a very pale duck-egg grey. For larger upholstery or curtains, deeper slate blue or charcoal creates a sophisticated contrast that picks up the dark markings of the butterfly and the delicate script.
