Wallpaper - Desert Noir II

Our Desert Noir II wallpaper, created by artist June Erica Vess, brings together layered, broad painterly brushstrokes across a warm landscape of terracotta, sand, muted clay, and creamy beige. What we particularly appreciate about this mural wallpaper is its fluid, horizontal movement, where varying opacities and visible brush marks create a rich sense of depth without feeling visually heavy. The earthy, sunbaked palette provides an inviting warmth that anchors a room naturally. Like all of our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your exact wall dimensions and is entirely PVC-free.

In the room

Because of its broad horizontal rhythm and softer tonal transitions, this design works wonderfully across a wide, uninterrupted living room wall or behind a low bed frame in a bedroom. The abstract composition acts like a large-scale painting, making it an excellent backdrop in an open-plan dining space or a dedicated home study where you want warmth and visual interest without the rigid repetition of traditional pattern. In rooms with ample natural daylight, the subtler beige and cream brush marks stand out clearly against the deeper terracotta base, while warmer evening lamplight enhances the cozy, earthen character of the darker clay tones.

Styling it

When styling around Desert Noir II, we suggest balancing the expressive nature of the brushstrokes with clean-lined furniture and tactile, grounded surfaces. Low-profile furniture in mid-toned woods or warm oak pairs naturally with the earthy pigments, allowing the wall mural to remain the focal point of the space. To prevent the room from feeling monochromatic, introduce contrasting materials such as unglazed ceramics, matte black metal accents on lighting, or woven jute and raw linen textiles that echo the organic quality of the artwork.

Colour combinations

The motif itself is composed of rich terracotta, warm desert sand, soft cream, and dusty clay brown. When choosing paint shades and furnishings for the surrounding space, soft off-whites and creamy ivories on adjacent walls will keep the room bright and balanced while drawing out the lighter brushstrokes. For a richer, more enveloping feel, deeper tones like burnt umber, warm caramel, or muted olive green on upholstery or woodwork complement the desert-inspired palette beautifully.
